- Clear a jammed garbage disposal. To fix it, you will need the following
1. A bucket
2. A 3-way plumber’s wrench
3. Replacement washer or a whole new P-trap
First, turn the water off to the sink. You will need to twist off the compression nuts holding the P-trap in place so you can replace them and the worn-out washers. You can use a 3-way plumber’s wrench to help you loosen the nuts.
1. A flashlight
2. A 1/4-inch Allen wrench
3. A garbage disposal wrench
First, try pushing the reset button. If that does not work, try rotating the disposal blades with an Allen wrench. You can also try using the garbage disposal wrench which is designed to fit in the disposal’s main chamber and remove the jam.
